Coach Ryan Schaffer and his squad competed in the Greentree tournament this past week and weekend. Their bats must have been on fire as they rolled through Pool play with wins against Carrick (15-0), Greenfield (17-3) and Collier (21-7). The bats stayed hot in elimination play through the first 2 rounds when they beat Fort Cherry (16-9) in the quarter finals and came from behind to win vs 14th Ward (14-13) in the semis. But the gloves decided to get stingy when it mattered most and the team walked away with a 4-2 win in the Championship game. The team is coached by Ryan Schaffer, Jason Blank, Ryan Babiak, Jim Santini, Steve Wiles and Jim McDermott. Players are Colton Babiak, Chase Beckton, Bear Blank, Luca Chelli, Nick Christy, Jameson Hartz, Drew McDermott, Tyler McLaughlin, Shane O’Neill, Nate Santini, Blake Schaffer, Anthony Tamburino and Leo Wiles. Lukas Kruth has also played for the team in prior tournaments. Good luck at Saxonburg this week!!
